Step 3: Dream Signs
We have now focused our mind on lucid dreaming and recorded our dreams in our dream journals. Our dream recall should be starting to improve and this gives us the opportunity to spot
dream signs. A dream sign is basically something that indicates that we are experiencing a dream.
Dream journals are a great way of identifying reoccurring dream signs. Your journal may show that you often dream about a certain location, person or scenario etc. This
dream sign then becomes something you can be aware of and watch for in your dreams and your everyday life. When you come across one of your dream signs you should train yourself to look at the world around you and test if you are in a dream. This testing process is called
reality checking as is described in the next step.
As well as identifying and looking for reoccurring dream signs you should also train yourself to notice things that are out of the ordinary and consider if they could be signs that you are dreaming. Be aware of dream signs during the day and you will be more likely to spot them during a dream, which will lead you to become lucid.
